Patrick's PALS 28 was our first year at the TRACK at new balance in Brighton. By far, it represented a larger venue then we've ever had the opportunity to use to run Patrick's PALS, and as a result there was a wonderful vibe being at the beautiful facility! Before the basketball began, opening ceremonies honored Don MacGuillicuddy, Jesse & Jeremy Sarzana, Ben Volin and Orlando Cabrera. Don was a well-respected high school basketball official felled by a heart attack while doing what he loved - calling a game. It was sudden and tragic, but Don was a good man and PALS was honored to recognize him as our PAL of the Year. Jesse & Jeremy have been longtime participants and donors as well as always talking up PALS. They were awarded the David Whitney Unsung PALS of the Year. Ben is an established sportswriter and columnist and for years has been covering the Patriots and the NFL for the Boston Globe. Orlando was the starting shortstop for the Boston Red Sox when they broke the 86 year jinx in 2004 and won the World Series! Finally, Todd, who sings a rousing rendition of the national anthem for the Boston Bruins 41 home games every year, graced our event and brought down the place with his singing!
